We provide a wide range of activities for all ages and stages of children’s development.

CARE, LEARNING AND PLAY

The programme of activities and the atmosphere in our clubs aims to encourage confidence, independence and enjoyment. Our work has, as its core, the aim of enabling children to develop their emotional, social, interpersonal and physical skills, and their desire to explore, discover and be creative.

  •     The club will provide a well-planned and organised play environment that offers children rich and stimulating experiences, alongside opportunities to explore, experiment, plan and make decisions for themselves. The programme of activities will recognise and take into account the differing ages, interests, backgrounds and abilities of the children.

  •  Activities are carefully planned to allow children to build on their natural curiosity, advance their thinking, use their imagination and develop positive social relationships. At all times, the Club will recognise a child’s individuality, effort and achievement.

  • Wherever appropriate, children will be involved in the process of planning activities so that the programme reflects their opinions, and so that children feel some ownership over their Club. Such processes will be governed by the procedures set out in the Involving and Consulting Children policy.

  • Staff will display flexible styles of leadership and respond appropriately to children according to their age, understanding and needs.

  • Staff will support, recognise and promote achievements by all children.

  • The Club will provide children with a range of equipment and resources appropriate to their age and interests, according to the provisions of the Equipment Policy.

  • Children will be offered access to outdoor play as often as is possible, subject to weather conditions.

  • No child will be left unsupervised during activities at the Club.

  • The programme of activities will be displayed in a place that is accessible to all children and to their parents/carers, including start and finish times.

  • The Manager will ensure that time is managed properly, so as to allow for activity sessions to be evaluated.

Manager

Kelly Keeling

I am married with 3 young children; I have lived in Hamble for over 15 years.

Between 1993 and 1998, Kelly worked as a qualified children’s nanny to a local family with 2 young children, then when the family emmigrated to Switzerland, Kelly started a family of her own and decided to register as a childminder, she cared for 11 children over a 4 year period and has become a familiar face in the community.

In 2003, Kelly decided to research the need for out of school care and after much hard work Creative Kidz opened in July 2004.

Kelly holds the following qualifications; City and guilds practical caring skills part 1 and 2, paediatric first aid, child protection, positive approaches to managing childrens behaviour, health and safety and a Level 2 food hygiene certificate plus she has recently completed an NVQ level 3 qualification in Play work.

Play-leader

Tracey Venables

I have spent most of my working career working in retail and have a background in administration and training. I began working in secondary schools some four years ago as a Curriculum Support Assistant. On moving to Hamble I joined Woolston secondary school but the school closes later this year.

Joining Creative Kidz allows me the opportunity to gain important qualifications whilst working in a great setting with wonderful children and the support of a fabulous team. It makes a huge difference to my day when I see the children come rushing through the door because they want to be there!

Tracey has an excellent manner with the children.

We welcome her to our team.

Playworkers

Zoe Smith

Zoë is recently married and say’s she’s too busy looking after children at the club, to have any of her own. I think we’ve scared her!! Ha Ha!!

She also loves to get stuck in and play with the children. Zoë is very into yoga and has taught us all some great moves and techniques during our drama sessions.

Zoë hold a qualification in Paediatric first aid, Health and Safety, Child protection and she has recently completed an NVQ level 2 in playwork.

Charlene is eager to learn and has already gained a first aid qualification and is currently studying for her Level 3 Diploma in Playwork with Tracey and Stacey.

Stacey Hobbs

Stacey is a local girl, she is about to start her Diploma in Playwork and is eager to learn.

Stacey works full time at the after school club, and she is also employed as a modday supervisor at Hamble Primary school, so a lot of the children already know Stacey.
